Revelation Deep Dive: Revelation 14:6-7, The Eternal Gospel

Welcome to Revelation Deep Dive, a bi-weekly meditation on a single passage from the book of Revelation. Each issue takes one passage seriously: what it says, what it means, where the Old Testament roots run, and how it lands for readers today. Chapter 13 ended with the beast demanding worship from every tribe, tongue, and people, marking those who complied and starving those who refused. Chapter 14 opens with the Lamb standing on Mount Zion surrounded by His own sealed people. Then the sky fills with angels flying in sequence, each with a message. The first angel comes with an announcement wider than any human missionary has ever carried: the eternal gospel, delivered from the sky to every nation on earth. "Worship Him who made heaven and earth." An everlasting gospel. Every nation on earth in earshot. The fourth commandment on angelic lips. And every detail of it echoes Exodus and Psalm 96. Let's take it apart.
Revelation 14:6-7
Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people—saying with a loud voice, 'Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.'

The urgency is clear: "the hour of His judgment has come." This isn't a suggestion or an invitation to consider your options at your leisure. It's a final warning before the door closes. Throughout history, God has given humanity chance after chance to repent. This is the last one.
